An ancient and peculiar being, made entirely of a dark mist, that became sentient many years ago. Vulture, once known as Zamagliti, has been around for many eons. After gaining sentience, they began presenting themselves as a living, physical being, and taught themselves how to mimic human speech. In their younger years, they took the name Zamagliti and were adopted by demons. They committed many crimes, but the demons taught them right from wrong. During their youth, they became the sole guardian of a human child that sought to become a local hero. Zamagliti assisted in keeping the child safe, and would see them grow up and become a powerful hero until they eventually died of old age. Zamagliti changed their name to Vulture in their later years, figuring humans didn't like their original name as much, and not realizing the negative conotation to their new name.
They primarily assist other demons and humans in various tasks, especially if it leaves an impact on humanity. They are truly morally grey, assisting both good and evil equally. One instance resulted in the destruction of a human town, and the creation of a demon-posessed human named Flaum. Vulture's capacity for both good and evil comes from their lack of emotion - being a collection of mist, they have no capacity for emotions. Their very memory works more like computer memory than human memory.
Their role in Core: Afterlife is smaller, only showing up near the end of Part 2. Prior to Part 2, they had become a high ranking demon, leaving them in charge of watching the afterlife for demon-kind. Seeing Aetherra's attack on Ossa, a new demon, they decide to step in and offer support to Ossa. Vulture explains to Ossa that all of demon-kind knows about her, that demonic loyalty means she's never alone in a fight, and that they will personally help her take down the angel Aetherra should she request it. Newly motivated by the interaction, Ossa rejects the direct help, only asking for one thing from Vulture; "Just believe in me."
Vulture leaves Ossa to her final clash with Aetherra, watching from the demon realm as Ossa's power grows, her belief in herself and the belief from all demon-kind being enough to completely overwhelm Aetherra, resulting in their destruction. With the final angel defeated, demons are free to take control of the afterlife, pushing things in a different direction. After Aetherra ceases to exist, Vulture offers to take Ossa to the demon realm to get acquainted with her own kind, but Ossa refuses, expressing sadness that she would be alone again, and wanting to stay with her friends in the second realm. Vulture, a little confused, asks if Ossa wants to go back to the first realm to be with her other friends as well, offering to transport her and her new friends together to the first realm of the afterlife. Ossa excitedly agrees, and Vulture complies, leaving Ossa with the final gift of the power to transport herself between the realms at will.
As their final role, Vulture takes up residence in the afterlife, taking it upon themselves to oversee the afterlife and keep the souls of the deceased safe.
